Reader questions roundup — you asked, we answered

Twelve weeks in, and the questions keep coming. That's the whole point of this blog — it's a conversation, not a lecture. So this week we're clearing out the inbox. Five of the questions we get most from brothers building their beard the right way.

"My cheeks fill in faster than my chin. Is it stuck like that forever?"

Probably not. Uneven growth is normal, especially early. Our hair is coily, so it curls back on itself and looks patchier than it actually is before it gets length. Give it 8–12 weeks before you judge it. In the meantime, brush the growth down and out daily to train the direction, and hit the thin spots with a derma roller once a week to wake the follicles up.

"How do I stop razor bumps on my neckline?"

This is the big one for us. Bumps come from coily hair curling back into the skin after you cut it. Fix the prep, not just the blade: soften the hair with warm water first, shave with the grain on the neck, and never dry-shave. Then keep that skin moisturized so hairs can break the surface clean instead of getting trapped.

"Oil, balm, or both — and how much?"

Both, and less than you think. Oil goes on damp skin to feed the follicle and stop the itch. Balm goes on after to seal moisture and hold the shape. A few drops of oil, a fingernail-scoop of balm. If your beard looks greasy, you used too much — start small and build. We broke this down in full in oil vs. balm.

"Does what I eat actually matter?"

Yes, more than any product. Your beard is built from protein, and it can't grow what your body doesn't have. Get enough protein daily, plus water, and don't sleep on biotin, zinc, and vitamin D — the nutrients most of us run low on. No oil fixes a diet that's coming up short.

"How often should I wash it?"

Two to three times a week for most of us. Our hair runs drier, so daily washing with regular soap strips it and leaves it brittle. Use a real beard wash, then follow with conditioner so it stays soft instead of wiry.

Notice the theme: the beard is a reflection of the whole system — the routine, the food, the sleep, the care. Products help, but consistency wins.

If you want the full setup in one shot, the Growth Kit has the shampoo, conditioner, oil, balm and derma roller — everything above in one box.
